    Greetings..

Within the last two days, I've not been able to use the SHIFT+TAB option to access the steam community while in game. This is how I access steam chats and the steam browser to access discord. Not sure what's up and I can't find much of anything related to the issue online.

Does it happen to other games or just JKA? Did anything change since you were able to do it last?

Keep in mind since I assume you are still using Windows XP (unless you upgraded recently), you're going to run into issues that won't be supported by the developers of Steam (or any other developer) because you're using an 18 year old operating system.

Yeah, still not upgraded. Shortly after you showed me links for windows 10, it was no longer a free option. Once I have some other commitments paid for, I plan to do some upgrades including the OS.

Also, its happening with all steam games not just JKA.

I ended up just moving over to Linux.. I love it, but now, I can't figure out how to get Jedi running. Here's why. If I had the discs or owned it outside of steam, this wouldn't even be an issue... its because I only own the game through steam and steam doesn't have the openJK . Anyone who might know how I can get back into making sushi on the battlefield... please let me know.

I recently got OpenJK to run on Linux, I'll have to post instructions later when I am sitting at my desk. I think @Rayce has also done the same at some point.

If you need details, I'm on Solus Linux with the Budgie desktop. If I need to build the OpenJK then I will need help learning to do so.

Do you still have your JKA disc? Since JKA isn't available on Linux, downloading via Steam is a hassle but it can be done via SteamCMD. Essentially all you need for OpenJK is the asset PK3s, so if you can load up your disc and pull the assets from there then that would make it much easier.

You can download OpenJK for 64bit linux at this link. If you need 32bit, this one.

You can make a new folder called Jedi Academy in your Documents folder, and create a Gamedata folder in that folder. Then extract the files from the OpenJK DMG to that new Gamedata folder. You also will probably need SDL2, which the process for getting that can vary across Linux versions. But try launching OpenJK before attempting to get SDL2 first.

The OpenJK team has a tutorial on setting all this up but it's literally the most barebones tutorial ever that it makes me sad. If you need to use SteamCMD, their tutorial lists the steam ID for JKA.

Hopefully that will get you started.

Yeah, like I said you just need the asset pk3 files.

I put the OpenJK in the GameData folder.. tried to run it under Wine and got a crash. So I put it right in the base folder, same crash. The error in the crash log is "Couldn't load mpdefault.cfg"

I'm using Ubuntu 17.10 so it may be a bit different for you, but this is how my folder structure is set up:

And of course the assets1-3 are in the base folder you see there.

Looks to me like the issue is that it is loading a config file of some sort looking for files in what was my windows install. I've tried many times to find what config file it is and haven't been able to. I guess I'm just out of luck.

Its a cfg file in one of the assets PK3s. It means that it's not able to find the assets. If you set your folder structure like how mine is in the screenshot, it should work.
